What are the early symptoms of pregnancy?

Most women who experience regular periods, will have missed a period, or will have experienced a much lighter period.  Tiredness, discomfort and tingling of breasts, sickness, and more frequent passing urine, are other indications of pregnancy.

What support is available when breastfeeding?

Your midwife and health visitor will be able to provide support and advice. There are also other national and local breastfeeding supports such as The National Childbirth Trust and Le Leche League.  Sweetpeababy workshops will provide you with clear and reassuring health education which will help you to prepare you for breastfeeding.

Where are the Sweetpeababy workshops held?

Sweetpeababy weekend and evening workshops are based in Devon. Bespoke antenatal and postnatal preparation can be provided in the comfort of your own home.

When should we attend a Sweetpeababy class?

Between 20 and 35 weeks.

What should we bring to a Sweetpeababy course?

You will be provided with a pre-course pack. We suggest that you wear comfortable clothing, and, depending on the stage of your pregnancy, a comfy pillow or cushion for the relaxation session.

What happens at Sweetpeababy classes?

You will be sent a pre-course questionnaire to ensure that the course is tailored to meet your needs. Some of the topics covered: getting to know your baby before birth, how to communicate with your newborn baby, what your baby is thinking and feeling, feeding your baby, infant massage demonstration, infant resuscitation demonstration.

What is happening at the different stages of pregnancy?

The developing embryo becomes a foetus at about eight weeks gestation. There is much activity as the foetus grows, and it is fully formed twelve weeks after conception. The growing foetus has a sense of touch, taste and sound, and towards the end of the pregnancy can perceive light.

Will my baby like me?

Yes! Sweetpeababy classes will provide you with evidence based information on how newborn babies communicate, and what newborn baby behaviours mean, such as different cries, hiccuping and sleep states. A greater understanding will enable you to develop a happy and fulfilling relationship with your baby, with lifelong benefits.
